Monkey World

Set up in 1987 by Jim Cronin and his wife Alison with a team of care staff lead by Jeremy, it was originally intended to provide a home for abused chimpanzees used as props by Spanish beach photographers, but is now home to many different species of primates.Monkey World is open every day except Christmas Day, from 10am to 5pm. During July and August, opening times extend from 10am to 6pm.

Their 65-acre park in the heart of the Dorset countryside is home to over 250 rescued and/or endangered primates of 20 different species. In addition, they have recently added an excellent and entertaining play area for all those little monkeys in the family. As you would expect from this world famous  attraction there is a large restaurant and the inevitable gift shop with fluffy animals that you are forced through on your way out -designed to relieve parents of their last pennies, obviously all in a good cause!!
